Abbreviations stand for: SC - Scheduled Caste, ST - Scheduled Tribe, OBC – Other Backward Classes, GEN-General, OC - Orthopaedically Challenged, VI -  Visually Impaired, B/LV – Blind/Low Vision, HI - Hearing Impaired, PWD - Persons with Disability.

The definitions of VI (B/LV), HI & OC are as prescribed in “The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights & Full Participation) Act,1995

Eligibility Criteria

A) Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.  A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.


B) Educational Qualification (as on 01.10.2010)


A graduate or a post graduate in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum qualification marks of 55 % in aggregate in either graduation or post graduation (50 % marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in aggregate in any discipline

Note:    
1.The candidate must possess the requisite educational qualification as on 01.10.2010.
2.Degrees obtained from the recognised Universities/Institutes recognised by the Govt. of India only will be considered. 
3.COMPUTER LITERACY - Candidates must have successfully completed a computer course of at least six months’ duration from any institute recognized by Central / State Government / All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

 C) Age – (as on 01.10.2010)

Minimum age – 21 years
Maximum age – 30 years

There are relaxations in upper age limit for certain categories. Please see the detailed notification in this regard

 Selection Procedure

The selection will be made on the basis of performance in written test and interview. Merely satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for written test & interview. The details of the written test shall be communicated to the candidates in advance. The Written Test will be Objective and Descriptive type.

 
Application Fee (Including Postage Charge) (Non-Refundable)

(a)For SC/ST/PWD candidates   -  Rs.   50.00 (Towards postage only)
(b)For all others (including OBC)    -  Rs. 400.00 (350 + 50 for postage)

Requisite Application Fee is to be deposited  at any of the Branches of the Oriental Bank of Commerce , through a Deposit Challan  as per the format given on the Bank’s website. 

Note:
(i)Demand Drafts, Cheques, Money Orders, Postal Orders, Pay Orders, Banker’s Cheques, postal stamps,  etc., will not be accepted
(ii) The payment towards application fee will be accepted by our Branches between 10.08.2010 and before the last date indicated herein above, i.e., 07.09.2010
(iii)Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances nor can it be held in reserve for any other future selection process

 

How to Apply : 

Application fee may be paid in cash at any of the Bank’s Branches. After payment, the candidate must collect the payment receipt; the particulars thereof are to be quoted in the application and the original receipt must be produced along with the call letter at the time of the written test.

To apply, candidates should log onto our website www.obcindia.co.in                             No other means/mode of application will be accepted.

The last date of registering applications on-line is 10.11.2010. Application registration on our website will be open from 11.10.2010 to 10.11.2010. GUIDELINES FOR FILLING APPLICATION ARE AS UNDER:

Candidates should have a valid email id. This will help him/her in getting call letter/ interview advices etc. by email.

Candidate must ensure that on deposit of fee, the branch issues him a receipt which should invariably mention under-noted items :                                                                   (i) Receipt No. (ii) Branch Name (iii) Branch Code No. (iv) Date of deposit and (v) Amount

The payment of fees should be made on or before 10.11.2010. This date will be same for the candidates belonging to far-flung areas.

Applications once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and the application fee/ postage once paid shall not be refunded nor shall it be held in reserve for any other examination.

Candidates should keep a copy of the Application Printout and Payment Receipt (Receipt No.) for their record. An ‘Information Handout’ will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for written test. Candidates serving in Government / Quasi Govt. offices, Public Sector Undertakings including Nationalised Banks and Financial Institutions will be required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer at the time of interview, failing which their candidature may not be considered and travelling expenses, if any other admissible, will not be paid. Original payment receipt will have to be submitted with the call letter at the time of written examination.
